Reminiscence of a Glorious Life

Who was Che?

The question here means, Che is no more. Even though he is, his seeds are in Us, in our brains, in our veins, in our ideas, through those words and actions he carved in history.

So why is he still famous, that youngsters (some hardly know his significance) still sport his iconic face in those fashionable T-shirts?

Born in a rich and affluent family in Argentina, with no hardships apparently, getting into a medical school was affordable for him. His childhood struggles were mainly against bronchial asthma.
On the verge of completing his medical degree, why did he have to embark on a cross-continent adventure across the Latin America in his motorcycle “La podorosa” ?

Why did he feel empathy towards the sufferings of the native americans under the hands of the capitalist creed?

Why did he have to struggle for a freedom of a country, completely irrelevant and unrelated to him? (so much for the pseudo or anti-nationalism!)

Why did he choose a life full of uncertainties and surprises in the sierra mountains as a guerrilla rebel, with no medical access (given that he can get an attack of asthma, anytime)

Even after winning the independence for a foreign nation, CUBA, he could have settled there and lived out his life with his family. But he didn’t. He chose to spread the idea of revolution to the deprived and help the wanted countries of the third nation. Why?

I would say, it was his empathy for the suffering of the fellowmen, that made up his life to be an exemplary example of a modern day revolutionary.

If you carefully look upon anyone’s life, its the choices we make that decides our fate and glory. Like in Che’s, the choices he made, killed him for a short life. But then his legacy has attained an eternal life. Here we are celebrating his birthday and reading about his life and the guerrilla warfare, he devised, sporting his T-shirt and spreading the wings of revolution.

And here I am writing about someone, who I have never seen or heard but only known through words and pictures. Now thats what is called as Inspiration.

He was not chasing success or contentment! He was probably chasing his own inner voice, like all great men. The rest as they say is HISTORY!

We all have choices; The cozy ones to stay at home or the hard ones to get to the streets. But very few have had the courage to choose the right one. Che was one among them.

Long live the spirit of Revolution.
For Che.
